The course homepage is the first screen you will see when you enter your course. The Content widget on the left will display course content for the current week. The Events widget on the right provides weekly assignment due dates. The Instructor Profile widget introduces you to your instructor and allows you to send him/her an email directly from the course homepage. Below the Instructor Profile widget, you will find accessibilty information for D2L and any third-party resources that may be used in the course.
Below is a list of features that can be accessed from anywhere within your course.
Top Navigation Bar
This is the bar at the top of the screen with the Columbia College logo.
CC Logo - Returns you to the organizational homepage (My Home). You will find your list of courses and important announcements from the Online Education staff on the My Home page.
Course Name - Returns you to the course homepage. Instructors may post announcements here with important information about the course.
Message Alerts – Shows your new instant messages. Click Instant Messages to navigate to the instant message tool.
Subscription Alerts – Shows new discussion posts in forums, topics, and specific threads you subscribed to.
Update Alerts – Shows new and updated announcements, upcoming due dates, and changes to grades.
Personal Menu – Click on your name at the right of the minibar to edit your profile, notification settings, and account settings.
Logout – Click on your personal menu and select Logout.
Course Navigation Bar
Content - The Content area provides a summary of the weekly activities for the course.
Discussions - You can read and add to discussions among your fellow classmates and your instructor. The discussion area is the primary mode of communication during the class.
Dropbox - This is a submission box for you to submit your assignments. You can upload all of your assignments for your instructor to grade.
Quizzes - The Quiz page lists the Past, Current, and Future Quizzes. You can quickly see the date and time the quiz starts and the attempts available.
Checklist - Your instructor may use this to create a "to do" guide for the course.
Grades - You can access grades when you want to check how you are doing academically. If your instructor makes any comments about your assignments, you will be able to view them here as well.
More Tools - This is a drop-down menu containing additional tools available in the course.
Classlist - This is a directory of your classmates, including names, emails and any groups. You can email your instructor or a fellow class member by clicking on their name.
Help - This drop-down contains a link to the Student User Guide, as well as information about technical support, student concerns, the Stafford Library, tutoring, and Student Accessibility Resources.
